Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Residential Energy Specialist to join our team at South Middlesex Opportunity Council. As a key member of our Energy Conservation Programs Division, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our energy efficiency programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform home energy evaluations to identify energy-saving opportunities for low-income households.
  • Evaluate the condition of vapor and thermal systems, including insulation and air flow, to determine the effectiveness of existing insulation and recommend improvements.
  • Conduct infrared scanning and blower door testing, as well as combustion safety protocols, to identify potential safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare work orders and cost estimates for energy efficiency upgrades and repairs.
  • Coordinate with contractors and funders to ensure timely and effective implementation of energy efficiency projects.
  • Provide education and outreach to clients on energy conservation best practices and provide guidance on energy-efficient appliances and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on energy efficiency projects and client interactions.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless delivery of energy efficiency services.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as building science, engineering, or environmental science.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in energy efficiency, building science, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, energy efficiency standards, and weatherization best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, and funders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
