About Advantage Technical:

We are seeking a dedicated Wastewater Systems Operator for our overnight shift. This role is crucial for maintaining the functionality of the wastewater management system while adhering to all regulatory standards. Responsibilities include initiating and concluding operations, conducting wastewater sample analyses, monitoring equipment efficiency, calibrating pH instruments, and managing various chemicals. The operator will also be responsible for documenting flow rates, calibration results, equipment conditions, and any operational issues that arise. General maintenance, inventory management, and data entry into computer systems are also key components of this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the operational integrity of the wastewater systems in compliance with regulatory permits.
  • Assist in daily operations, including logging system modifications, chemical adjustments, and equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records of chemical usage, pH calibrations, and water flow metrics, separate from daily logs.
  • Handle, label, store, and process hazardous materials in preparation for waste collection.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Possession of a Massachusetts Grade 2 I/M or higher Wastewater Operators License is necessary or actively pursuing.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a municipal or industrial wastewater environment is essential.
  • Familiarity with wastewater permits and pretreatment processes is required.
  • Strong commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and adaptability is expected.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent record-keeping and monitoring capabilities are essential.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with metals precipitation is advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and transport 50-pound bags of dry chemicals and move 55-gallon drums.
  • Must be able to stand for 75% of the workday, with frequent handling and gripping tasks.
  • Exposure to chemicals, noise, slippery surfaces, and hazardous materials is expected; may involve working at heights and in adverse weather conditions.
  • Capability to work extended periods while wearing protective gear; physical tasks may include pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and lifting.
