Essential Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesFamiliarity with MRI procedures and technologies is crucial. Understanding of the operational specifications, standards, and tolerances for MRI equipment is required. Proficiency in using magnetic resonance film processors and related equipment is necessary. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with effective interpersonal abilities. The candidate must be capable of monitoring and maintaining quality control standards and alleviating patient anxiety.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts magnetic resonance imaging procedures.
- Communicates procedures to patients, gathers and documents relevant medical history, selects appropriate equipment settings, and positions patients to achieve optimal imaging results.
- Develops and reviews images to assess quality, forwarding them for interpretation while maintaining necessary patient documentation.
- Ensures a well-stocked and clean workspace; reports any equipment issues to the supervisor.
- Takes responsibility for patient safety, providing both physical and emotional support to patients.
- Adheres to workplace safety, environmental, exposure control, and infection control protocols.

Physical and Environmental Requirements
This position requires regular exposure to biohazardous conditions, including risks associated with radiation, bloodborne pathogens, and toxic substances, necessitating a strong focus on safety. The role involves frequent precision in work output, occasional bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, crawling, crouching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, twisting, and walking.
Education & Experience: Completion of a Radiologic Technology Program accredited by a recognized body, acceptable for American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) registration.
Certifications and Licenses: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required and can be obtained within a specified timeframe. ARRT registration in Radiography and a Medical Radiology Technician license are mandatory upon hiring. ARRT registration in Magnetic Resonance Imaging must be achieved within a specified period following employment.
