Job Overview

Facilitates a comprehensive Rehabilitation Therapy program aimed at enhancing the recovery of individuals with physical and/or mental challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements a tailored Rehabilitation Therapy program to assist patients in regaining physical and/or mental independence.
  • Utilizes various therapeutic techniques including splinting, range of motion exercises, muscle strengthening, and re-education of upper extremities, along with fine and gross motor coordination methods, and essential daily living skills.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to determine the most suitable therapy plan based on each patient's unique needs and abilities.
  • Creates strategies for modifying tools, devices, and the home environment to support patient rehabilitation.
  • Adjusts therapy programs in response to patient capabilities, observing their engagement and documenting reactions for team review. Assesses patient progress, attitudes, and behaviors in relation to rehabilitation goals.
  • Engages with the attending physician to report on patient advancements and maintain comprehensive records.
  • Offers guidance and support to family members to aid in the patient's recovery journey.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

For positions involving direct patient interaction, the employee must acquire and demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate assessment, treatment, or care as defined by the department's patient demographics.

Specifically, the employee should exhibit proficiency in: 1) gathering and interpreting information relevant to patient needs; 2) understanding developmental stages; and 3) recognizing the spectrum of treatments required by patients.

Competency must be validated through initial orientation and ongoing assessments to independently execute tasks and additional responsibilities as outlined in the job description and departmental competency checklist.

1. Maintain and document all necessary educational requirements.
2. Exhibit positive customer service and collaborative relations with colleagues.

4. Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives within the department and organization.
5. Conduct work in a cost-effective manner.
6. Perform duties in accordance with departmental scheduling policies, including various shifts and on-call responsibilities.
7. Align work with the overarching mission and strategic objectives of the organization.
8. Follow organizational and departmental protocols as applicable.
9. Execute related tasks as assigned.


Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Mandatory)
Experience: Minimum of 1 year in occupational therapy under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.

Credentials

  • Occupational Therapist License (Mandatory)
  • Basic Life Support Certification (Mandatory) within 30 days of employment.
Work Schedule: Flexible
