Prosecutor's Office Position

The Puyallup Tribe of Indians is committed to protecting and exercising its inherent sovereign rights. As a key member of our team, the Assistant Prosecutor/Presenting Officer will play a vital role in upholding justice and ensuring the preservation of our cultural and environmental integrity.
Key Responsibilities:- Research and analyze laws, court decisions, and authorities to provide informed guidance and support.
- Prepare and present complaints, motions, and other legal documents for civil and criminal prosecutions.
- Represent the Puyallup Tribe in Tribal Court proceedings, enforcing the Criminal, Juvenile Justice, and Children's Codes.
- Collaborate with various Tribal Agencies to prepare and present cases involving adults, juveniles, and child welfare.
- Develop and maintain cooperative working relations with staff from other tribal and state agencies, victims of crimes, parents, and relatives.
- Apply rules of evidence, regulations, and precedence to ensure logical interpretations and effective case management.
- Work independently with a diverse and fluctuating caseload, managing priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited Law School.
- Two years of prosecutorial or criminal trial experience.
- Intermediate knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets (e.g., Word for Windows, Excel, Access).
- Preferred: Five years of experience practicing law, preferably in Indian Law in Tribal, State, and/or Federal Courts.
