Job Summary

This position plays a critical role in the City of Waukesha's Public Works department, performing a variety of technical tasks related to surveying, mapping, and infrastructure management. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of field surveys and mapping projects, including the use of GPS, total station, and other surveying equipment.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of surveying and mapping software, including AutoCAD Civil 3D and ESRI ArcMap.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to verify work performed in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, and specifications related to construction projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to develop and implement construction plans and schedules.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in surveying, engineering, or a related field, plus 1-3 years of technical or specialized training.
  • Knowledge of public works construction techniques and procedures, computer-aided drafting, mathematics, and surveying best practices.
  • Ability to prepare and interpret complex drawings, plans, and specifications, and to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying weather conditions.
