Opto-Mechanical Systems Design Engineer

Job Summary
Corning Incorporated is seeking a highly skilled Opto-Mechanical Engineer to join our team. As an Opto-Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing opto-mechanical systems for various applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop unique opto-mechanical designs for products and processes
- Interface with Development, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to innovate and manufacture new products and processes
- Work with project teams to solve difficult mechanical and opto-mechanical engineering issues
- Specify and procure products, measurement equipment, fixtures, and machine components
- Document project results through internal and external reporting means
Requirements
- Minimum bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or adjacent engineering discipline
- Minimum 3-5 years' industry experience in mechanical engineering
- Strong fundamental understanding of mechanical design principles, fixture design, ergonomics, material handling, machining processes, GD&T, CMM inspections, error budgets
- Ability to function as a technical leader in a highly matrixed project team
- Self-starter able to complete objectives and meet timelines independently
Preferred Skills
- Entrepreneurial and forward-thinking approach to work
- Knowledge of glass and precision manufacturing
- Experience with CREO, Solidworks, and Autocad design software
- Knowledge of precision engineering principles
- Prior experience moving a new product/manufacturing process from development into manufacturing
