Infection Control Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at National Park Medical Center as an Infection Control Specialist. This role is responsible for conducting ongoing surveillance of infections, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with departments to develop and update area-specific policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Conducts ongoing surveillance of infections related to personnel, keeps accurate records, and maintains up-to-date records for Workers Compensation.
- Compiles and presents infection control/employee health reports to appropriate committees.
- Periodically inspects the environment and observes personnel activities for the purpose of detecting possible infection hazards, reports findings to department managers and appropriate committees.
- Monitors and evaluates isolation, aseptic, and patient care techniques.
- Collaborates with all departments to develop and update area-specific policies and procedures pertinent to infection control.
- Disseminates information relative to infection control and implements appropriate infection control measures.
- Tracks exposures and infections in hospital personnel, develops and implements employee health programs.
- Develops and participates in orientation and in-service programs.
- Demonstrates the appropriate skills and ability, based on scope of practice, level of training, and/or licensure, to assess and/or care for patients based on age of the patient.
- Practices according to regulatory agency requirements, i.e. TJC, State Health, CDC, and CMS.
- Investigates employee injuries and illnesses on request, recommends appropriate medical follow-up.
- Serves on hospital committees relating to employee health and recommends policies and procedures.
- Performs annual health screenings or testing as required.
