Job Summary:

Apex Systems is seeking a highly skilled Financial Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our financial operations team, you will be responsible for preparing departmental financial statements and forecasts, including monthly and annual P&L statements, forecasting, journal entries, and calculations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare departmental financial statements and forecasts, including monthly and annual P&L statements, forecasting, journal entries, and calculations.
  • Provide analysis and plans to address key performance measures and goals.
  • Perform ongoing analytics and monitoring of key performance measures.
  • Develop financial modeling associated with departmental operations.
  • Perform special cost and operational requirement studies.
  • Collaborate in preparation of departmental operating budget.
  • Optimize use of new analytics tools in identifying and initiating process improvements.
  • Ensure company compliance with federal reporting requirements, including SOX reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate internal and external audit compliance, management of department activities, and management of department records.
  • Lead record retention efforts for all federal government contracts, financial, and business records.
  • Understand primary operational processes and key drivers and make recommendations for corrective actions if necessary.
  • Function as internal consultant to the director and managers in support of the business unit.
  • Manage collection activities for internal and third-party lenders.
  • Create loan amortization schedules and serve as primary point of contact between the company and institutional lenders that finance federal projects.
  • Prepare and process Sundry Billing invoices, incoming wire-transfers, set-up project work orders.
  • Prepare loan documentation for institutional lenders and maintain compliance with loan agreements.
  • Process contract close-out documents.

Requirements:

  • Ability to organize and interpret large amounts of data.
  • Demonstrates motivation and initiative.
  • Must be results-oriented.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and contracting schedules and effectively prioritize competing tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and other PC software skills, e.g., MS Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Proficiency in GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Working knowledge of US Treasury financial markets, loan documents, and financial instruments.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills, with the ability to plan, develop alternatives, and implement solutions.
  • Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) for Federal Government contracts.

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or equivalent training and/or experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial systems (SAP and Business Warehouse).
