We are seeking a highly skilled Anesthesiologist Assistant to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a key member of our perioperative team, you will provide anesthesia services under the direction of an anesthesiologist, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Provide general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care to patients, including induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia.
- Support life functions during anesthesia administration, including intubations and resuscitative care.
- Record all pertinent events during anesthesia administration and take corrective action for abnormal patient responses.
- Perform pre-anesthesia functions, including reviewing patient condition and checking equipment readiness.
- Conduct post-anesthesia duties, including advising post-anesthetic care personnel and administering post-operative analgesia.
- Manage narcotic medication accounting and distribution under the direction of an anesthesiologist.
- Respond to life-threatening emergencies and assist with difficult IV insertions.
- Provide work direction and guidance to anesthesiologist assistant students.
- Anesthesiologist Assistant license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
- Anesthesiologist Assistant (AA-C) certification issued by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA) within 18 months.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
- Master's Degree in Anesthesia.
This role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently during the work shift. The incumbent must have functional vision and hearing, and be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. The role also requires the ability to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
