Schedule Details:

We are seeking a skilled Anesthesiology Physician to join our team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in surgical anesthesia and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The schedule will be Monday to Friday, with one Medical Doctor Assistant (MDA) on vacation every week (except for two weeks per year). One MDA will be post-call every day, one MDA will be on call every day, one MDA will work day shifts only, and one MDA will be second call every day.

On weekends, one MDA will be first call on Saturday and second call on Sunday, while another MDA will be second call on Saturday and first call on Sunday. The remaining three MDAs will have the weekend off.

Call Details:

The first call provider can go home once all cases are finished and will only return if a case is added or a central line is called. The second call provider will typically stay late and may be required to return if a non-cardiac MDA is first call.

The call ratio is 1 in 5.

Dates of Coverage:

The successful candidate will be required to start as soon as possible and will be credentialed as soon as possible.

Reason for Coverage:

We are seeking a locum tenens physician to cover a retirement practice setting.

Practice Setting:

The practice is hospital-based and located in a Level 2 trauma center. The surgical services department is a busy and dynamic environment.

EMR:

The practice uses Cerner Power Chart as its electronic medical record system.

Average Number of Surgical Cases Per Day:

The average number of surgical cases per day is 13.

Supervision of CRNAs:

The locum tenens physician will be required to supervise CRNAs almost 100% of the time. The CRNAs are experienced and work closely with the anesthesiologists.

Trauma Level/Designation:

The practice is a Level 2 trauma center.

Number of Anesthesiologists in Practice:

There are five anesthesiologists in the practice when fully staffed, with two positions currently available due to retirement.

Responsibilities:

The locum tenens physician will be responsible for providing anesthesia services to patients undergoing surgical procedures. The physician will work closely with the CRNAs and other members of the surgical team to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.

Procedures Required:

The locum tenens physician will be required to perform a wide range of procedures, including general surgical cases, minor nerve blocks, IV regional anesthesia, plexus anesthesia, open heart anesthesia, thoracic cases, complex vascular cases, complex orthopedic cases, spinal anesthesia, epidural anesthesia, regional anesthesia, neurosurgical cases, and ventilation management.

Local Infiltration Pain Management Procedures:

The locum tenens physician will be required to perform acute insertion of central lines, arterial lines, and PA catheters, as well as evaluate and manage acute volume/BP issues.

Estimated Credentialing Timeframe:

The client will reimburse the locum tenens physician for full travel expenses, including local hotels.
