The Role
In the capacity of Finance Operations Manager within the Capital Markets division, you will oversee the management and execution of Secondary Marketing functions, reporting directly to the VP of Capital Markets while maintaining a functional relationship with the Director of Lock Desk & Pricing. Your role will involve collaborating with business units to ensure the availability of adequate funding products to support our mortgage operations, as well as engaging with investors to create loan programs that enhance our competitive positioning. You will supervise all Secondary Marketing activities and provide guidance to the Secondary Marketing Analyst as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
As the Finance Operations Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Executing secondary market sales to investors.
- Cultivating new investor relationships and developing innovative programs.
- Managing the renewal, update, and establishment of accounts with investors and aggregators.
- Monitoring secondary market conditions and addressing compliance and technology issues as they arise.
- Staying informed about trends in mortgage lending and market dynamics that influence mortgage origination and secondary market sales.
- Supporting the mortgage pricing strategy and supplying market insights to leadership for budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures, including audit controls related to departmental operations.
- Working independently and efficiently to resolve issues.
- Collaborating closely with the Head of Mortgage, Director of Lock Desk & Pricing, and relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Conducting quarterly evaluations of MSR values.
- Compiling and organizing monthly and ad hoc reports as required.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
- Acting as a key internal partner to the FP&A, Accounting, Treasury, Corporate Investor Relations, Legal, and Line of Business teams.
Qualifications
- A strong interest in the FinTech sector and/or Banking, Finance, and Accounting.
- A Bachelor's or Master's/MBA degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in mortgage capital markets, secondary marketing, or lock desk roles.
- A solid understanding of the financial industry, regulatory landscape, and debt capital market/structured finance market.
- Exceptional analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to serve as a role model and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in G-suite and/or Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Google Sheets) and experience working with large datasets. Knowledge of MS Excel VBA macros is preferred.
