About the Role:

Kettering Health is a leading healthcare provider in southwest Ohio, committed to delivering high-quality care to our patients. We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team in the Operating Room.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in direct patient care by selecting, setting up, and passing sterile instruments to surgeons and assistants under the direction of the RN and surgeon.
  • Label and handle patient specimens appropriately.
  • Perform Surgical Technologist skills as defined by the unit's scope of practice.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment free from clutter.
  • Respond to emergency situations and demonstrate safe infection control practices.
  • Assist nurses and physicians with patient procedures.
  • Participate in preceptor activities and elective educational opportunities.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of aseptic technique and prepare for and assist in surgical procedures.
  • Prepare OR tables and scrubs for surgeries.
  • Provide necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgery.
  • Operate specialized equipment used in the OR.
  • Assist with preoperative and postoperative care as directed by RN.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of surgical procedures and provide necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Assist with patient transport and other patient care duties in the OR.

Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in Surgical Technology from a NBSTA accredited program or certification from NCCT.
  • Four (4) years of experience as a surgical technologist with a High School Diploma.
  • Four (4) years applicable on-the-job or military surgical technology training with a High School Diploma.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Surgical Technology skills required, preferably in a hospital operating room environment.
  • Experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
