We are seeking a skilled Video Journalist to join our team at Fort Myers Broadcasting Co in Southwest Florida.

Salary: $50,000 - $70,000 per year based on experience and qualifications.

About the Job

This is a fast-paced role that involves researching, writing, capturing visual content, and editing stories for multiple platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong broadcast and AP style writing skills, as well as proficiency in videography and non-linear editing software like Final Cut Pro.

The Video Journalist will work closely with our news producer to prepare newscasts and assist online staff in preparing multimedia stories. They will also be responsible for carrying and setting up ENG equipment, which may weigh up to 50lbs, and driving a news vehicle to story locations.

Responsibilities
  • Research and develop story ideas, often working under tight deadlines.
  • Write engaging stories according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.
  • Capture high-quality video and still photos to illustrate stories.
  • Edit video content using Final Cut Pro or similar software.
  • Assist in editing videos for all multimedia platforms.
  • Work cooperatively with photographers assigned to stories.
  • Contribute to the preparation of newscasts and multimedia stories.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in video journalism or a related field.
  • Proficiency in newsroom computer systems and ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
