Quality Assurance Specialist

Caviness Beef Packers is seeking a highly motivated Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of products in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Environmental Sampling: Perform regular environmental sampling of equipment, drains, and raw and finished products to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Equipment Calibration: Calibrate thermometers and scales on a daily basis to ensure accurate readings.
- Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs): Monitor and document SSOPs in accordance with the company's program to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Product Monitoring: Monitor the quality of packaging, raw materials, and finished products to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
- Foreign Material Detection and Rejection: Monitor and record foreign material detection and rejection to prevent contamination of products.
- Weight Monitoring: Monitor and record weights of finished products to ensure accuracy.
- Temperature Monitoring: Take raw and finished product temperatures to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
- Physical, Chemical, and Sensory Characteristics: Monitor physical, chemical, and sensory characteristics of raw and finished products to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
- Record Keeping: Generate and complete required records and documentation on a daily basis for each product line in accordance with customer specifications.
- HACCP Monitoring and Verification: Perform HACCP monitoring and verification for all critical control points of the company's HACCP programs.
Requirements:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Work Experience: Good work history, preferably in quality assurance in food processing.
- Skills: Basic math and computer skills, ability to read and analyze process charts, graphs, and logs.
- Certifications: HACCP certified or ability to become HACCP certified.
- Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills at a technical and general level.
- USDA Knowledge: Knowledgeable about USDA inspected facilities.
Estimated Salary:
$45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience.
