Position Overview:
Role Purpose:
The Registered Nurse delivers comprehensive care throughout the surgical process, encompassing pre-admission scheduling, assessments, education, intraoperative assistance, and postoperative follow-up in diverse environments such as operating rooms and endoscopy suites.
Key Responsibilities:
Conducts thorough assessments of patients' physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social, and educational needs throughout their surgical journey.
Formulates and executes a tailored plan of care, including discharge planning, grounded in evidence-based practices, institutional policies, and the unique needs of patients and their families.
Documents and evaluates patient and family responses to nursing interventions, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Maintains accurate patient records in both electronic and paper formats, ensuring timely documentation at the bedside or as soon as feasible.
Delegates and oversees patient care activities within the healthcare worker's scope of practice to fulfill the care needs of the designated patient population.
Upholds the principles of sterile and medical asepsis in the operating room and/or endoscopic suite. Prepares and maintains the operating room and/or endoscopy suite in accordance with the surgeon's preferences and established protocols. Adheres to recommended practices for the cleaning and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment. Prepares and sterilizes instruments and supplies following recognized processing standards. Monitors and assesses equipment functionality to ensure optimal performance.Work Schedule:
Full Time, primarily day shifts, Monday - Friday.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Current RN licensure in the applicable state.
Demonstrated proficiency in an acute care environment with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience.
Willingness to work flexible hours and participate in surgical on-call rotations (must be reachable within a specified timeframe).
Must provide verification of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification prior to employment or within a designated period post-hire and maintain current status.
Mandatory Reporting:
Completion of Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training within a specified timeframe of hire, with renewal every five years.
Completion of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training within a specified timeframe of hire and maintenance of current status.
Completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training within a specified timeframe of hire and maintenance of current status.
