Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Animal Welfare Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our animal care staff, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the physical and mental health of our companion animals. This is a full-time position with a salary of $40,000 per year.

Job DescriptionResponsibilities include:
  • Providing daily care for our animals, including feeding, watering, medicating, exercising, and providing enrichment activities.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing animal housing areas.
  • Monitoring animal health and reporting any problems to the appropriate staff.
  • FOLLOWING PROPER PROTOCOLS AND PROCEDURES TO ENSURE THE SAFETY AND HIGHEST QUALITY OF CARE FOR THE ANIMALS.

Behavior AssessmentWe are looking for someone with experience conducting behavioral assessments of animals to identify specific needs, challenges, and opportunities for enrichment. You will develop a comprehensive understanding of each animal's behavioral profile and design and implement behavior enrichment programs tailored to their individual needs and species-specific behaviors.

QualificationsWe require 3-5 years of experience working with companion animals, preferably in a shelter or sanctuary setting. Strong knowledge of animal behavior and positive reinforcement techniques is essential. Excellent observational and analytical skills, effective communication and collaboration skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team are also required. Physical fitness and agility to work in various environments and handle animals safely are necessary.
