Regional Freight Transport Operator

Position Summary:
- Responsible for the safe operation of various vehicles to fulfill all safety protocols, including but not limited to manual transmission driving and tire chaining, while demonstrating proficiency in diverse terrains and environmental conditions.
- Tasked with the secure transportation of goods, adhering to all company policies as well as Federal, State, and Local regulations regarding transportation times and FMCSA guidelines.
- Must comply with all FMCSA standards for holders of a Commercial Driver's License.
- Maintain necessary documentation in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations for the transport of hazardous materials.
- Safeguard equipment and cargo during transit.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to confirm the safe operational status of the vehicle.
- Monitor gauges and indicators for any malfunctions, ensuring the integrity of seals or locks on trailers and inspecting the vehicle throughout the journey.
- Promptly report maintenance issues to Fleet Services or supervisory personnel.
- Verify unit numbers against provided documentation and communicate any discrepancies to management.
- May be required to utilize in-cab technology, including electronic logging devices.
- Flexibility to drive varying schedules and assist with dock work as needed based on operational demands.
- Occasional over-the-road driving may be necessary as dictated by business requirements.
- Deliver professional and courteous service to customers and the public.
- Assist with loading and unloading freight as required by business needs.
- Regular attendance is mandatory.

- High School Diploma or GED, or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge.
- Must be at least 21 years old in accordance with FMCSA regulations (minimum of one year of driving experience required).
- Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License is mandatory.
- Registration with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse is required.
- Must reside within a 75-mile radius of the designated terminal or work location.
- HazMat, Tanker, and Doubles endorsements are necessary (LCV requirements may apply).
- Ability to operate a tractor-trailer in compliance with FMCSA driving time regulations.
- Preferred stable employment history.
- Capability to operate a forklift (minimum 7,500 lb. capacity).
- Must be able to maneuver a loaded pallet jack and/or hand truck with a minimum load of 70 lbs.
- Physical activities include standing, lifting, twisting, turning, and climbing.
- Must be capable of dropping/hooking and coupling trailers, which involves significant physical effort.
- Must provide an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Familiarity with state motor vehicle laws and FMCSA regulations is essential.
- Must pass a FMCSA-required medical examination.
- Successful completion of a road test is required.
- Ability to read and speak English as per FMCSA requirements.
- Must be able to lift approximately 70 lbs. or more as necessary for job functions.
- Ability to drive in various terrains and weather conditions.
- Proficiency in operating all safety and operational functions of vehicles.
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures is mandatory.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to manage time effectively in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
- Authorization to work in the United States is required.
