About the Role

The University of California, Irvine's Division of Continuing Education is seeking a skilled Instructional Designer to play a critical role in the design and development of captivating, learner-centric courses that enhance student learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop online courses that are engaging, accessible, and aligned with learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to conceptualize, plan, design, and develop course content and activities.
  • Utilize instructional design principles and learning strategies to create effective learning experiences.
  • Conduct analysis and develop recommendations to improve course quality and student outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of instructional design principles, learning theories, and educational methodologies.
  • Collaborate with developers and Subject Matter Experts to ensure courses are technically sound and meet quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) and other educational technologies.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in instructional design or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in online course design and delivery using instructional design/learning experience design practices in higher education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality online course frameworks, learning data analytics, analysis, and metrics reporting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while balancing and prioritizing multiple projects and adjusting to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PPT) and G-Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA degree and/or a Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.
  • Professional coursework in instructional design, educational technology, and/or related field.
  • Experience with LMS systems (i.e., Canvas, Coursera).
  • Experience with basic HTML coding.
  • Experience in using project management tools (i.e., Wrike).
  • Demonstrated experience producing courses using eLearning tools, such as Articulate Storyline, Captivate, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
