Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Athletic Medicine Specialist to join our team at MyMichigan Health. As a key member of our sports medicine department, you will be responsible for providing top-notch care to our athletes and ensuring their optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Treatment and Prevention: Assess, treat, and prevent athletic injuries for our designated school, including practice and game coverage.
  • Therapeutic Techniques: Provide treatment techniques to facilitate and restore optimal functioning performance specific to certified athletic trainer's patient care area.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Complete daily documentation necessary for billing procedures per affiliate policy and in compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Demonstrate effective oral and written communication with all internal and external customers to maximize quality of patient care, including coordination with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Education and Development: Promote education and development among staff, students, and other healthcare providers using relevant and effective teaching methods.
  • Process Improvement: Promote process improvement and assist with program development.
  • Confidentiality and Customer Service: Maintain confidentiality of patient and affiliate information in accordance with MyMichigan Health and affiliate policies and procedures, and demonstrate commitment to customer service and quality of service.
Requirements
  • Experience and Training: Successful completion of MyMichigan Health and affiliate-specific orientation, and new hire competency.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Interpersonal skills needed for effective verbal and written communication in the English language to interact with people individually and in a group at all levels.
  • Problem-Solving and Organizational Skills: Ability to work independently, demonstrating problem-solving and organizational skills, time management skills, and initiative.
  • Physical and Mental Demands: Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief, and death. Ability to wear personal protective equipment and move freely about the facility.
