Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician III to join our team at the Oklahoma City Housing Authority. This is a critical role that requires a strong background in maintenance and repair, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs to ensure the upkeep and operation of our buildings and grounds.
  • Complete work orders assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Housing Manager in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs to plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment, pumps, electrical systems, and pneumatic control systems.
  • Repair minor building/unit problems, including doors, locks, ranges, refrigerators, drains, and sewers.
  • Perform exterior/grounds work, including mowing, edging, and trimming grass, trimming or removing trees, watering, fertilizing, and applying pesticides/insecticides to trees, grass, and shrubs.
  • Secure unoccupied units and make-ready units for occupancy, including painting, cleaning, drywall repairs/installation, floor care, and ceramic/vinyl tile repairs.
  • Assist with basic training and instruction of Maintenance Technician I and II.
  • Complete work order written documentation and inventory control.
  • Be available for emergency, after-hours, weekend, and holiday work.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with vocational school training, three years of maintenance experience, or a combination thereof.
  • Ability to use initiative, work independently, and take appropriate action on unassigned tasks.
  • Basic computer skills and data entry.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, deal tactfully with the public, and retain proprietary information as confidential.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions, demonstrate sound judgment, and comply with Authority attendance policies.
  • A valid Oklahoma Driver License with an acceptable driving record.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in an office environment as well as a field environment, with possible exposure to inclement weather, dusty, dirty, noisy, mechanical hazards, noxious fumes, paints, and solvents, and unsanitary conditions. Stress due to volume, emergencies, and time schedules is also a possibility.
