About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Neurosurgery Per Diem Physician Assistant/APRN to join our Advanced Practice team at Hartford Hospital located in Hartford, CT.

This is an outstanding opportunity to provide advanced specialized care to neurosurgical patients including open spine, MIS spine and deformity, intracranial cases, neurovascular, peripheral nerve, neurotrauma, and neuro-interventional radiological cases.

The successful candidate will have excellent clinical skills, strong communication and interpersonal abilities, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will be experienced in providing per diem coverage on the inpatient side of neurosurgery including weekdays (day & night shifts), weekends (day & night shifts), and holidays based on neurosurgery service line needs.

Responsibilities

  • Managing neurosurgical brain and spine patients on the floor, stepdown, and ICU settings.
  • Intake H&Ps, progress notes, consultations, pre- and post-operative care, and discharges.
  • Providing neurosurgical consultations in the hospital and in the emergency department.
  • Performing bedside procedures: external ventricular drains, ICP monitors, lumbar drains, shunt taps.
  • First assisting the attending neurosurgeon in the operating room in brain and spine surgeries.
