Key Responsibilities

Role Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in delivering patient care by utilizing the nursing process effectively. The LPN collaborates with the interdisciplinary team and support staff to ensure high-quality, safe patient care.

  • Exhibits proficiency in nursing theory and practice as defined by the Kentucky Board of Nursing.
  • Conducts thorough daily assessments of assigned patients, documented in shift reports and patient records.
  • Prioritizes patient care based on assessments and monitors progress towards established health goals.
  • Reviews and updates patient care plans in accordance with established protocols.
  • Administers direct patient care as per physician orders and nursing interventions, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Communicates any abnormalities in laboratory results promptly to the nursing manager or physician.
  • Administers and records prescribed medications according to established schedules and procedures.
  • Takes initiative in executing nursing care by following through on physician and nursing orders independently.
  • Ensures all medical orders are reviewed and implemented during each shift.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications
• Active Kentucky practical nurse license or compact license with authorization to practice in Kentucky.
• Degree in practical nursing from an accredited institution.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications
• Minimum of one year of experience in a relevant patient care specialty.
