Radiation Oncology Therapist

We are seeking a skilled Radiation Therapy Technician to join our team at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. As a Radiation Therapy Technician, you will play a critical role in the delivery of high-quality patient care, working closely with radiation oncologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and effective treatment of patients.

• Apply ionizing radiation to patients in accordance with prescriptions and instructions from radiation oncologists.
• Educate, prepare, and reassure patients and their families, answering questions and providing physical assistance as needed.
• Participate in the orientation and education of patients, ensuring they understand their treatment plans and post-treatment care.
• Work with minimal supervision, seeking advice from supervisors, physicians, or physics staff as required.

• Current registration as a Radiation Therapy Technologist (RTT) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or registry eligibility.
• Registry eligible new hires must take the certification test within the first 90 days of hire and pass within the first 6 months.
• Current RTT certification with a minimum of 12 hours of documented continuing education annually.
• One year of previous work experience as a Radiation Therapy Technologist is preferred.
• Graduate of an AMA-accredited School of Radiation Therapy Technology.
