Position: Safety and Security Associate

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The primary role of a Safety and Security Associate is to safeguard the associates and assets of Ross. This position is essential in promoting a culture of safety by enforcing established protocols for facility safety and security, as well as preventing accidents and injuries. Responsibilities include conducting safety audits and monitoring for potential hazards. The Associate will proactively identify and address safety concerns affecting the well-being of associates.

The Associate must respond to critical incidents, assess situations, and make informed decisions as a first responder. Responsibilities also include maintaining a presence in assigned areas, conducting patrols, security audits, and utilizing tools and processes to minimize shrinkage. The Associate will promote awareness and work to reduce shrinkage through investigation and resolution of theft incidents.

Good judgment and strong decision-making skills are essential for managing traffic and relations with associates, visitors, vendors, and contractors. During health crises, the Associate will be responsible for health screenings and making informed decisions regarding entry protocols. Confidentiality is paramount, and the Associate must respect employee privacy in accordance with company guidelines. Contributing to a positive company culture and team morale is expected by actively participating in efforts to support company objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Strong command of English, both written and verbal
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to effectively manage conflict situations
  • Basic computer skills and ability to perform data entry tasks
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as necessary
  • Job requires standing, walking, and reaching throughout the shift
  • Additional training and certifications will be provided and must be completed within the first 90 days
