About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated General Merchandise Team Leader to join our team at Target. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading a team of hourly team members to deliver exceptional guest service and drive sales growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team to achieve sales goals and deliver exceptional guest service
  • Execute daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement, including merchandising, pricing, transitions, revisions, sales plans, sampling, promotions, and price changes
  • Collaborate with the Executive Team Leader to develop and implement process improvements and workload efficiency initiatives
  • Empower team members to create a consistent experience for our guests, assess reporting to identify gaps in GM and Fulfillment processes, and develop plans to resolve
  • Work with Closing teams to identify key priorities and ensure the store is guest-ready
  • Develop and maintain a scheduling plan based on monthly and weekly business workload and guest traffic
  • Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team lead onboarding and learning plan
  • Establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable to expectations
  • Lead and coach the team to ensure accuracy and efficiency in all GM processes
  • Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs, including early morning, evening, overnight shifts, and weekends
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Age 18 or older
  • Previous retail experience preferred, but not required
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable, communicate effectively, and work independently and as part of a team
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude, effective communication skills, and ability to interpret instructions, reports, and information
