Job Title: Director of Sales and Events

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent opportunity for a Director of Sales and Events at the Shreveport Convention Center. Under the direction of the General Manager, the Director of Sales and Events will be responsible for leading the sales and event services team to achieve sales goals and provide exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Hire, train, and supervise sales and event service staff.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue goals.
  • Provide on-going support and service to existing clients.
  • Identify and implement sales goals and objectives.
  • Prepare creative marketing and sales plans.
  • Represent the facility at industry-related trade shows.
  • Develop and manage marketing budgets and media placement.
  • Ensure successful event coordination activities by supervising and training event coordinators.
  • Plan, organize, and assign all day-to-day work assignments for event coordinators.
  • Research, review, and recommend equipment, materials, and supplies required in providing event services and planning.
  • Coordinate inside or outside service needs with food and beverage, decorator, and other vendors.
  • Coordinate with marketing department all media entry into the building before, during, or immediately following events.
  • Coordinate with all departments as needed to manage events.
  • Prepare event services departmental and estimated revenues.
  • Maintain the proper image and generate positive public relations with patrons and staff.
  • Work extended/irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management or related field.
  • 3-5 years of event management experience in a convention center or related venue.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience desired.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively supervise staff.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • High aptitude for figures and advanced writing skills.
  • Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic.
  • Excellent negotiation techniques.
Physical Demands:

This position is not substantially exposed to adverse conditions. Physical requirements include the ability to communicate verbally.
