Medical Specimen Collector

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Dukes Memorial Hospital. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients for testing purposes. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
Key Responsibilities- Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture, heel sticks, and finger sticks.
- Properly identify patients and follow procedures for specimen collection.
- Ensure accurate and timely entry of specimen information into the laboratory computer system.
- Collect chain of custody urine drug screens for pre-employment, post-accident, and just cause cases.
- Perform other related functions as assigned by the Laboratory Manager.
- Certification as a phlebotomist through a nationally recognized agency, such as ASCP, ASPT, or NCA, is preferred.
- Basic Life Support Certification is required within 30 days of hire.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in phlebotomy is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Formal training in phlebotomy is preferred.
