Job Summary

As a Pharmacist II at Cardinal Health, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective coordination of pharmacy operations in a hospital setting. This position requires a licensed pharmacist with experience in in-patient hospital pharmacy operations, who can work various shifts and be on-call as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify physician orders for medications using the pharmacy information system, making adjustments according to established protocols.
  • Supervise Pharmacy Technicians to ensure compliant and efficient operations of the pharmacy, checking all work in line with State Boards of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Adjust dosages based on established protocols for each drug, ensuring appropriateness for the patient's condition and other medications being used.
  • Educate patients on the proper use and expected effects of medications, especially when using multiple medications or being discharged.
  • Manage narcotics and inventory control, including regular documentation and completion of checklists.
  • Assist the Pharmacy Director in maintaining the pharmacy's accreditation and implementing operational changes.
Requirements
  • Licensed pharmacist in the state of Missouri.
  • Experience in in-patient hospital pharmacy operations preferred.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and be on-call as needed.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers and healthcare professionals.
  • Manual dexterity required for occasional reach, lifting, and holding of small objects.
  • Computer savvy to learn and perform successful operation of multiple pharmacy information systems.
