Position Overview: Under the general oversight of the Family Preservation Supervisor, the Visitation Worker will engage with families aiming for reunification. This role involves conducting parent assessments and providing educational and supportive services to referred families. While supervising visits, the worker will actively participate in the family service planning process to strengthen bonding and attachment. Responsibilities include collaborating with the Family Preservation team on recommendations and maintaining accurate client records through our comprehensive agency database.
- Therapeutic Visitation Services: Provide therapeutic visitation for children placed in agency and/or DCYF foster homes, as well as kinship placements, ensuring a supportive environment for parents and extended family members. Responsibilities include transporting children to visits using agency vehicles, supervising interactions, and offering therapeutic interventions to foster parent-child bonding and effective parenting skills.
- Assessment and Reporting: Conduct a detailed assessment during the initial six weeks of visitation for each assigned case, delivering written evaluations to the DCYF caseworker. Provide ongoing visitation reports following each scheduled visit.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Assist in the regular upkeep of the foster care program's leased vehicle.
- Supportive Services: Offer a variety of supportive services to agency and DCYF foster families, including service linkage, tailored education and training, and assistance related to separation, grief, and loss.
- Case Management: Deliver case management and supportive services to children in agency and/or DCYF foster homes, collaborating with service providers, attending case conferences, and monitoring the adjustment and development of children.
- Documentation: Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately according to agency policies and program guidelines, providing timely and precise documentation for family court as necessary.
- Caseload Management: Maintain a caseload as assigned by the Family Preservation Supervisor, meeting productivity standards for the program.
- Effective Interaction: Engage respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds, actively supporting foster and pre-adoptive parents in promoting personal and cultural identity for children.
- Ongoing Training: Stay informed about agency and community programs, actively participating in training and professional development activities.
- Program Evaluation: Collaborate with administrative staff in evaluating agency programs and service delivery, utilizing individual and peer supervision to enhance service effectiveness.
- Team Collaboration: Contribute to the overall success of the program by working collaboratively with staff to address programmatic and agency-wide needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related field.
- Comprehensive knowledge of child welfare, adoption, and foster care.
- Flexibility in working hours as required by the program.
- Strong time management and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in computer programs, including databases and word processing.
- Ability to interact effectively with community members from diverse backgrounds.
- Valid driver's license, automobile, and auto liability insurance are required.
- Successful candidates must meet pre-employment background screening requirements.
