Role Summary:

The Logistics Operations Supervisor is accountable for overseeing and mentoring drivers within the Operating Company (OpCo) while ensuring that deliveries are executed safely, efficiently, and punctually. This role involves assisting in the oversight of Department of Transportation (DOT) logs, guaranteeing that drivers adhere to all DOT and OpCo regulations, and coordinating the monitoring of all pertinent driver information. The supervisor functions collaboratively within the department and organization, fulfilling any assigned duties to best support the company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversees team members, including but not limited to: recruitment, training, coaching, performance evaluation, and conflict resolution. Aids in scheduling and ensures timely deliveries and pickups. Accompanies drivers for training and evaluation purposes.
  • Supports the Transportation/Operations Manager with the daily management of transportation and delivery operations, which may involve calculating driver payroll, reviewing trip logs and expense reports, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with DOT and OpCo regulations. Utilizes computer systems to input and retrieve data in an automated fleet management system.
  • Monitors driver safety by overseeing vehicle safety practices, proper use of ramps and handcarts, seatbelt and weight belt usage, as well as safe lifting and handling of products. May participate in quarterly safety meetings.
  • Coordinates the tracking of all relevant driver information, including license status, traffic violations, accidents, and other safety-related data.
  • Ensures the accurate completion of all delivery and driver-related documentation, including invoices, cash receipts, collection registers, trip reports, fuel tickets, deposit slips, DOT logs, Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), driver qualification files, and accident reports.
  • Oversees the maintenance of all vehicles, including trucks, tractors, and trailers, through a thorough review of post-trip inspections.
  • Collaborates with the Transportation or Operations Manager to reduce operating costs and ensure efficient routing of all deliveries.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience

2-4 years of experience in transportation or a related field, including knowledge of DOT and safety regulations, as well as experience with computerized fleet management systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate's degree or 2-year technical degree in Business Management, Logistics, or a related field.

4-6 years of transportation experience, including knowledge of DOT and safety regulations, along with experience in computerized fleet management systems within the foodservice sector.

Supervisory experience is a plus.

Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) certification is preferred.

1+ years of experience with AS400, OminTracs Routing, and Dispatch systems.
