Job Summary

The Arc Prince Georges County is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Community Integration Specialist to join our team. As a Community Integration Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to achieve their goals and increase their levels of independence, productivity, and social/physical inclusion into the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement person-centered plans to support individuals in achieving their goals and increasing their levels of independence.
  • Provide support and guidance to individuals in expressing their choices, dreams, goals, and rights.
  • Collaborate with individuals, families, and other stakeholders to identify and develop community experiences that meet the individual's interests and needs.
  • Implement and monitor behavior plans to ensure the individual's safety and well-being.
  • Provide transportation and supervision to individuals in the community, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Complete all necessary documentation, including participation in activities, medication administration, and implementation of behavior programs.
  • Attend and participate in regular staff meetings, trainings, and workshops to stay up-to-date on best practices and policies.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 1-year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age and have a desire to work with adults who require a great deal of hands-on assistance, personal care, and supervision.
  • Must be computer literate and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong communication skills and be able to work effectively with individuals, families, and other stakeholders.
  • Must be dependable and reliable, with the ability to work productively with individuals and other team members to develop relationships.
  • Must have the ability to problem-solve and assist in decision-making, including during emergencies.
  • Must meet the criteria to be an approved driver for The Arc Prince Georges County and have reliable transportation.
Working Conditions

This position requires extensive use of a computer and may require heavy lifting over 25lbs. May require two-person lift/transfer. Work in the facility program area and may be required to drive an agency vehicle for outings and be exposed to all types of hazardous weather and/or heavy traffic and temperatures while assisting individuals in the community.
