The Academic Advisor - Learning Specialist provides academic counseling and advising to students, serving as a first point of contact for academic challenges or remediation needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing support for expectations, understanding processes and policies, grade appeals, remediation requirements, and professionalism lapses.
  • Working with students to navigate academic challenges, including time management, test-taking, and study strategies.
  • Developing individualized study and remediation plans, including timelines, to assess academic progress and promote student success.
  • Meeting with students with academic challenges and providing referrals to tutoring, personal counseling, and career advising.
  • Assisting with training and development of peer student tutors and delivering workshops to enhance active learning strategies.

Requirements include a Master's or Doctoral degree in Education, Counseling, Educational Psychology, Psychology, Higher Education, or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in academic and/or career counseling in a higher education setting.
