Under the general direction of the Production Manager, the primary role involves the mixing and casting of materials to create syntactic foam materials.
Key Responsibilities- Mixing and Casting: Reads and understands the production process instruction sheet and identifies all relevant equipment.
- Understands safety and procedural issues for mixing process.
- Reads and understands batch card and identifies all chemical components.
- Measures and mixes HYTAC and ESS batch needs.
- Coordinates/arranges material for pre-heating of chemicals.
- Weighs out ingredients, pours premixed materials into bowl and transfers balloons into bowl.
- Records batch/lot card and process information on the batch card.
- Performs mixing and vacuum pressure process following established procedures.
- Transfers finished mixture into transfer tanks and/or molds.
- Transfer mix from transfer tanks into molds.
- Optimizes positioning of filled molds in ovens and selects/executes proper cure cycle.
- Cleans and maintains mix and weighing equipment.
- Monitors cure of parts through cycle, recording batch details.
- Prepares mixer and mold PM schedules.
- Works well with multi-functional teams.
- Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Must have a positive attitude.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Must be able to lift, push and pull greater than 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to walk through a large manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to use hand tools.
- Constant use of hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Occasional bending and twisting.
- Frequently moving about to accomplish tasks.
- Constantly communicating with others to exchange information.
Majority of work is performed in a manufacturing environment with noise levels within safety limits and acceptable lighting and temperature conditions.
Work Authorization/Security ClearanceTo conform to U.S. Government export control regulations and the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information restrictions, applicant must be a U.S citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorization from the U.S. Department of State or Department of Commerce.
