Description:

High Country Community Health offers a unique opportunity for a Staff Dentist to join our team. As a Staff Dentist, you will be responsible for providing clinical dental services and preventive dental care in a community health center setting. Your expertise will be essential in helping us achieve our mission of providing high-quality healthcare to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Examine individuals requesting care, diagnose their dental/oral conditions, and provide appropriate treatment.
  • Record patient-dentist transactions in the patient's electronic dental record.
  • Supervise the clinical work of dental assistants and hygienists.
  • Work collaboratively with the Dental Office Manager to maintain a full schedule.
  • Participate in continuing education, on-the-job training, and the orientation of community health center staff.
  • Assist in the provision of technical assistance and health education to the community.
  • Participate in short and long-term program planning for the Dental Department and the agency.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited dental school.
  • Completion of an accredited general practice residency program is preferred.
  • Knowledge of community health principles and practices is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate clinical privileges is required.

Licensure and Credentials:

  • Unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of North Carolina.
  • Current CPR (BLS) certifications. ACLS is preferred.
  • North Carolina DEA registration.
  • Medicare and Medicaid provider numbers.

Skills and Abilities:

Requires a comprehensive knowledge of primary dental care in outpatient settings. Knowledge of the principles and practice of modern dentistry as related to community health organizations.

Working Conditions:

Prolonged sitting or standing may be required. The ability to distinguish letters and symbols, as well as the ability to utilize telephones, computer terminals, and copiers is required. Work under stressful conditions as well as irregular hours may be required. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, radiation, and other conditions common to a clinical environment may routinely be encountered.
