RN-Telemetry-Nights Specialist

Ochsner Health is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as a Telemetry Nurse in the Nights shift. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, utilizing the Nursing Process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice.
Responsibilities- Effectively utilize the Nursing Process in the delivery of patient care, assessing learning needs and implementing teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of patients, families, and other groups or disciplines.
- Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly, serving as a leader and partner on the Interdisciplinary Team.
- Utilize data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes, embracing concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improvement in the profession of nursing.
- Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy, introducing yourself to patients, adapting explanations of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions, and communicating in a style that meets the needs of each patient.
- Current RN License in the state of practice
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Preferred: Certification in clinical specialty area
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information, effective verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Strong interpersonal skills, good organizational skills, good time management skills, and self-directed.
The incumbent works in a patient care area, works in an area where patients enter, works directly with patients, and/or works with specimens that could contain communicable diseases. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases. Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be an occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning, and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
