We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Analyst II to join our team at the County of San Bernardino, CA. As a GIS Analyst II, you will play a critical role in leveraging GIS technology to optimize business processes and enhance the delivery of public health services.
Job Summary:The GIS Analyst II will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing the department's GIS infrastructure to meet department-wide mapping and customer service objectives. This includes supporting GIS data projects related to public health services across all programs, participating in the long-term development and enhancement of the department's GIS technology, and leading and performing GIS duties, providing technical expertise and support assistance to both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop, maintain, and enhance the department's GIS infrastructure to meet department-wide mapping and customer service objectives.
- Support GIS data projects related to public health services across all programs, including but not limited to Environmental Health Services, Communicable Disease Section, Animal Care, Family Health Services, and Community Outreach & Education.
- Participate in the long-term development and enhancement of the department's GIS technology.
- Lead and perform GIS duties, providing technical expertise and support assistance to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Two (2) years of experience performing GIS mapping and analysis, and one (1) year managing GIS related projects.
- Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework in information technology, business administration, GIS or a closely related field.
- Prior work experience in the health sector, applying GIS principles to better understand overall health, burden of disease, populations most at risk, etc., and inform strategies for outreach, education, and resource allocation.
- Proficiency in the Esri suite of applications, data engineering, data analytics, and problem-solving technical issues.
- Coding/programming experience, especially in SQL and Python.
- Advanced knowledge of business analysis tools and methodologies, and the capability to understand the entirety of a problem and formulate solutions that address the clients' needs.
- Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrate project management skills, including interacting with end users and program staff.
- Problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, strong work ethic, ability to identify client needs to comprehend full scope of work.
