About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Attendant to join our team at Kaiser Permanente. As a Nursing Attendant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician, including performing various tasks as assigned and in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate performance consistent with the Medical Center's Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan.
  • Remain flexible to changing systems and demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits in delivery of care.
  • Treat co-workers, patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team with dignity and respect.
Leadership and Teamwork
  • Uphold Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.
  • Demonstrate a professional, supportive attitude and identify and support new ideas.
  • Utilize effective communication strategies, including chain of command and issue escalation, which result in intended outcomes.
  • Participate in problem identification and resolution in collaboration with the Registered Nurse.
Nursing Process
  • Correctly identify patient and scheduled procedure.
  • Perform patient care activities, within the scope of competency, considering age-related needs of the patient as assigned.
  • Report unusual findings to the Registered Nurse.
  • Collect data and provide information in a timely manner to the Registered Nurse which may assist within the revision of the plan of care.
Customer Service
  • Practice customer service standards as defined by the Service Area, Medical Center, and specific department.
  • Anticipate the customer's desires, take proactive steps to meet those needs by listening and taking responsibility within scope to ensure issues are resolved.
  • Assist members who are less than satisfied with their experience by listening and taking responsibility within their scope to ensure that the issue is resolved.
Team Commitment
  • Viewed by others to be an effective team member who is flexible, cooperative, and willing to assist others.
  • Confront difficult or conflict situations constructively and seek appropriate assistance.
  • Takes accountability for own actions and accepts constructive criticism.
Fiscal Responsibility
  • Organize work to minimize the use of overtime.
  • Identify and assist in systems improvement that need simplification or correction.
  • Utilize payroll and non-payroll resources to their maximum potential.

Requirements:

  • Minimum one (1) year experience as a Nursing Attendant in an acute hospital, skilled nursing, extended care, or convalescent care setting.
  • Current enrollment in an approved RN or LVN program may be substituted for one (1) year of experience.
  • State Certification as a Nursing Assistant or completion of a Nursing Attendant course or current enrollment in an approved RN or LVN program.
  • Basic Life Support.
