Manager Role in Oncology Service Line for Advanced Practice Providers

This position is designed for a managerial role within the oncology service line, specifically focused on advanced practice providers (APPs). The role encompasses a significant emphasis on clinical responsibilities, alongside essential leadership duties. The manager will oversee a team of approximately 15-20 APPs and will work in collaboration with two other managers to enhance the performance of the APP team. The primary goal is to partner with operational and physician leadership to ensure exceptional care delivery to patients.

Key Responsibilities of the APP Supervisor:

  • Oversees daily operations and quality of the front-line APP team
  • Develops and executes staffing models for APPs based on industry benchmarks
  • Applies LEAN principles for service improvement
  • Organizes and leads regular meetings and professional development for APPs
  • Acts as a liaison between APPs and departmental leadership to ensure alignment of objectives
  • Collaborates with human resources on recruitment and turnover assessments
  • Ensures adherence to regulatory standards and conducts performance evaluations for APPs

Leadership Duties:

  • Implements service excellence standards
  • Creates strategic and operational plans for effective APP staffing
  • Provides mentorship, coaching, and constructive feedback to the APP team
  • Encourages teamwork in resolving issues within the healthcare team
  • Demonstrates accountability for professional practices and improvement initiatives
  • Ensures succession planning for leadership roles

Professional Qualifications:

  • Collaborates effectively with healthcare team members
  • Advocates for APPs to utilize their full scope of practice
  • Maintains relevant certifications and participates in ongoing education
  • Serves as a knowledgeable resource for APP licensing and regulatory compliance

Clinical Duties:

  • Delivers direct patient care
  • Prescribes medications and treatment plans
  • Facilitates evidence-based practices in patient care
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic tests and therapies

Compensation Range: $115,000 to $185,265.60 annually

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Master's or Doctorate in Nursing or a related field
  • Experience: At least 5 years in relevant positions
  • Licensure: Registered Nurse with necessary certifications

Physical Requirements:

This role may require prolonged periods of standing and physical exertion. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
