Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Specialty Gas Sales Specialist to join our team at Airgas. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for selling specialty gases and equipment to customers within our designated territory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Initiate, coordinate, and fulfill the complete sales cycle for specialty gas sales, including sales calls, needs analysis, proposal preparation, order entry, product sourcing, delivery, and complaint resolution.
  • Monitor and document competitive market activity by gathering information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques.
  • Represent Airgas at trade shows to promote products and services.
  • Implement and track sales strategies for specialty gas accounts, providing regular updates to sales and product management.
  • Meet or exceed sales goals specified in your individual plan.
  • Identify opportunities to add specialty gas business to existing accounts and work with internal sales associates to source and provide technical support.
  • Collaborate with the spec gas product manager to coordinate product procurement and trucking to branch and customer locations.
  • Participate in training sessions and seminars to stay up-to-date on specialty gas and equipment products and services.
Requirements
  • College degree and coursework in chemistry or engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience selling specialty gases and equipment preferred.
  • General knowledge of analytical and process control markets and applications.
  • Proven experience calling on laboratory and technical personnel, with a record of achieving or exceeding assigned sales goals.
  • Working knowledge of specialty gas pure gas and mixture production methods.
  • Good presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • Able to drive to customer locations.
