About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Petco. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional medical care to our patients and delivering outstanding customer service to their owners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians with medical procedures, including routine and emergency appointments, surgery, and euthanasia.
  • Collect patient histories, obtain vital signs, and record electronic medical records.
  • Perform patient restraint, obtain and process laboratory samples, and handle medications under the direction of the veterinarian.
  • Schedule appointments, provide client education, and relay test results to doctors and clients.
  • Help prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures, and assist with anesthesia and recovery.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working in a veterinary practice or animal care setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Compassion and empathy, with the ability to maintain a professional attitude in emotional and stressful situations.
  • Telephone and computer skills.
  • Ability to work as a team player, learn new techniques, and adapt to changing situations.
