POSITION SUMMARY


Deliver essential Human Resource expertise and guidance to the facility to attain optimal levels of safety, quality, productivity, and delivery, ensuring satisfaction for both internal and external stakeholders.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This role operates under close supervision and is classified as entry to intermediate level. It involves learning to apply knowledge to non-routine scenarios while seeking guidance as necessary. Most tasks are performed with a degree of independent judgment.

  • Support the organization's mission, vision, values, and objectives in daily operations.
  • Contribute to the formulation of departmental strategic objectives and identify key metrics to support these goals.
  • Foster positive colleague relations through effective communication and prompt resolution of colleague concerns.
  • Assist management in preparing and documenting disciplinary actions.
  • Provide guidance to management regarding company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain applicant files and records in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Coordinate applicant assessments through external/internal testing services.
  • Conduct reference checks and background screenings for all candidates.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained.
  • Assist in the onboarding process for all new employees.
  • Conduct exit interviews with all departing salaried employees.
  • Manage all internal job postings and transfers.
  • Develop and maintain job descriptions for all hourly roles and assist with salaried job descriptions.
  • Support plant leadership in creating an annual training needs assessment.
  • Assist in executing the annual training plan for the facility.
  • Keep training records for all employees up to date.
  • Administer company benefit programs by providing daily support to the facility.
  • Assist employees as a liaison with insurance providers and Corporate Benefits.
  • Guide departing employees on their options under COBRA regulations and notify corporate benefits for necessary paperwork.
  • Act as the plant contact for the 401K plan for both hourly and salaried employees.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records for all hourly employees and prepare disciplinary documentation as needed.
  • Assist in processing all MESC forms and represent the organization at unemployment hearings.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws for all active and terminated hourly files.
  • Coordinate performance evaluations for hourly and salaried employees after 90 days of employment.
  • Handle employment verification requests.
  • Support colleague engagement activities (e.g., plant events, community service initiatives).
  • Assist in managing and tracking workers' compensation claims, serving as the primary contact with the insurance carrier and medical clinic for work-related injuries.
  • Track and report departmental metrics on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of improved processes and structures.
  • Support plant initiatives aimed at achieving customer awards and quality certifications.
  • Assist supervisors in preparing accident reports to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Adhere to all internal and OSHA safety protocols in daily operations.
  • Maintain positive working relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Uphold high standards of cleanliness throughout the facility.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures (e.g., Quality Policy Manual, Employee Handbook, Level II procedures).
RELATIONSHIPS/CONTACTS

Reports directly to the Human Resources Manager and frequently interacts with all plant salaried and hourly employees, as well as corporate human resources, compensation, and benefits teams.

LEADERSHIP/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide guidance on HR matters to colleagues within the facility.
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify, select, train, and mentor management talent.
  • Exemplify corporate values through model behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • Zero to three (3) years of experience in Human Resources.
  • General knowledge of various HR processes and practices (labor relations, organizational development, leadership development, compensation, benefits, etc.).
  • SPHR or PHR certification is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, along with a focus on customer service and teamwork.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Capable of reading and writing in English and performing mathematical calculations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: standing, walking, twisting, bending, lifting, seeing, speaking, and hearing. Ability to travel may be required. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, and hazardous materials.
