Position Overview:

The Senior Security Operations Center (SOC) Engineer will play a pivotal role in assisting a government entity in achieving its strategic cybersecurity objectives.

Agile Defense is in search of a skilled Security Engineer to contribute to an enterprise-level cyber initiative. This essential role involves providing Advanced Cyber Network Defense (CND) Operations and Security Engineering support, including the creation of sophisticated analytics and countermeasures to safeguard vital assets against potential threats.

We are looking for candidates with diverse expertise in security engineering and systems administration to ensure the integrity, security, and resilience of critical operations.

The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of the complexities associated with network and cloud security, Operations and Maintenance (O&M), and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert for all network security functions within the Enterprise Security Operations Center (ESOC).
  • Address and resolve ServiceNow tickets that are submitted to the team's queue.
  • Conduct after-hours maintenance of security tools as needed, both remotely and onsite.
  • Develop presentations for stakeholders to propose new tools or enhancements.
  • Utilize Microsoft Visio to create and update network diagrams for security tools.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 4 years focused on cybersecurity engineering.
Essential Skills:
  • Proven experience with at least three of the following technologies, acting as the primary technical subject matter expert (SME): CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Palo Alto Firewalls/GlobalProtect, ExtraHop, ForeScout, Gigamon.
  • Strong team orientation and technical proficiency in supporting the engineering lifecycle, including design, development, integration, testing, and deployment of security networks and systems.
  • Ability to determine the appropriate application of security-focused hardware, software, services, and processes to develop sustainable cyber solutions.
  • Experience in investigating and analyzing undefined factors to identify and resolve system security issues effectively.
  • Familiarity with security toolsets that facilitate cyber analysis efforts.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting complex systems within a Systems-of-Systems environment.
  • Understanding of NIST standards to support Information Assurance/Compliance efforts.
  • Functional knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and PowerShell.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Cisco Routing & Switching (LAN/WAN), Cisco Firepower IPS/Firewall, and Web Security Appliance (WSA).
  • Familiarity with SIEM tools and the design and development of security analytics.
  • A strong desire to learn advanced cybersecurity concepts and work within a formal engineering lifecycle.
  • Attention to detail in managing complex changes within a cybersecurity environment.
  • Experience monitoring emerging security technologies to identify effective methodologies for securing infrastructures.

Security +, CISSP, SANS Certifications, Network +, Palo Alto PCNSA, Microsoft AZ-900.
Work Environment:

This position typically operates in a standard office environment with minimal travel requirements. The work is primarily sedentary, but may occasionally require standing or walking.
