Department Overview:

Role Overview:
The Pre-K Teacher Support Specialist plays a crucial role in the Passages Preschool classrooms, collaborating with the teaching staff to ensure a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for all children. This position involves assisting with meal and snack provisions, maintaining classroom cleanliness, and participating in ongoing professional development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise children within the classroom setting.
- Support the lead teacher in planning and executing educational activities.
- Utilize the Creative Curriculum and be familiar with Teaching Strategies GOLD.
- Conduct developmental screenings with caregivers within the designated timeframe and assist in referrals as necessary.
- Provide nutritional support, including meal and snack preparation.
- Facilitate communication between the teacher and parents regarding student progress and concerns.
- Assist with supply orders, paperwork related to the childcare center, and preparation for student progress conferences.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the center on a daily basis.
- Support administrative tasks during non-class hours as needed.
- Engage in community outreach to recruit potential families.
- Attend required professional development training and meetings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Current Preschool CDA Credential.
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development (ECE/CD).
- Associate Degree in ECE/CD.
- Bachelor's Degree in a non-ECE/CD field with relevant coursework and preschool teaching experience.
- Associate Degree in a non-ECE/CD field with relevant coursework and preschool teaching experience.
- Enrollment in a Preschool CDA Credential program to be completed within two years of hire.
- Enrollment in an ECE/CD program leading to an Associate or Bachelor Degree.
- Current IL Gateway to Opportunity Early Childhood Educator Credential Level 3 or higher.
- Advanced certificate in ECE/CD with a minimum of 120 clock hours of preschool-specific coursework.
