Key Responsibilities

  • Assess assay efficacy, establish a sample repository, lead experimental activities, and innovate sample processing methodologies.
  • Develop and implement protocols for the Systems Biology Branch at the Center for Genome Sciences.
  • Conduct and refine protocols for transcriptomic and proteomic analyses (including bulk, single-cell, and spatial), as well as metabolomic studies on samples derived from in vitro cultures, animal models, or human specimens to characterize host responses to pathogen exposure or specific Medical Countermeasures.
  • Execute protocols for epigenetic modifications in nucleic acids (RNA and DNA) and prepare transition packages, technical reports, and training documentation.
  • Utilize microphysiological systems (MPS), including ex-vivo tissues, organ-on-a-chip technologies, spheroids, organoids, and 3D tissue printing, while performing in vitro cell culture techniques to support project objectives.
  • Assist in the creation of transition packages, technical reports, and training materials, while conducting technical literature reviews to enhance protocols and methodologies.
  • Prepare technical reports and manuscripts for publication, and provide quarterly and annual project reports to the Technical Point of Contact (TPOC).
  • Establish and maintain a biosample repository for evaluation and verification, ensuring it supports both surveillance verification and new surveillance platforms.
  • Deliver a comprehensive Project Report to the TPOC, detailing protocols, data, and standard operating procedures for ongoing projects.
  • Ensure laboratory reagents are current and ordered regularly to prevent shortages that could disrupt processes.
  • Maintain an updated inventory of reagents, samples, and intermediary products, adhering to biosafety guidelines and CGS protocols.
  • Receive and properly store reagents and samples delivered to the Center for Genome Sciences.
  • Support the generation of all necessary documentation for supply and equipment procurement to achieve project goals.
  • Manage and execute multiple projects annually, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
  • Participate in all laboratory performance and safety activities, including routine clean-up to prevent contamination.
  • Act as a primary, secondary, or tertiary point of contact for laboratory equipment and spaces, responding to emergencies as per established protocols.
  • Support operations in BSL-3 and BSL-4 containment laboratories.
Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field.
  • Enrollment in the BPRP is required and must be maintained.
  • Possession of an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Compensation

Salary range: USD $95,000.00 to USD $105,000.00 per year.
