Adjunct Professor of Communication Studies

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Associate Professor of Communication Studies to join our faculty team at San Joaquin Delta College. The successful candidate will have a strong background in communication studies and a passion for teaching and mentoring students.
Job Summary:The Adjunct Associate Professor of Communication Studies will be responsible for teaching classes in communication studies, advising students, and evaluating student progress. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the racial, socioeconomic, and academic diversity within community college populations and be able to adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse students.
Responsibilities:- Teach classes in communication studies, including lectures and labs.
- Advise and assist students in achieving course objectives and student learning outcomes.
- Evaluate student progress and connect students to campus support services.
- Select instructional materials that support the learning environment and are reflective of the college's mission of equity-minded education.
- Maintain currency in the field of communication studies.
- Prepare and submit required reports to the administration.
- Report any conditions that may jeopardize the health or safety of students or the public.
- Participate in departmental, divisional, and campus-wide committees as part of the shared-governance process.
- Plan and complete approved professional development activities.
- Work collaboratively with the college to promote student equity and success.
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication, or organizational communication, or a Bachelor's degree in one of these fields with a Master's degree in drama/theater arts, mass communication, or English. The candidate should also have demonstrated sensitivity to race, ethnicity, color, religious creed, sex, gender expression, gender identity, age, national origin, ancestry, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, military status, prior contact with the criminal legal system, or any other basis prohibited by law.
The successful candidate will also have demonstrated ability to adapt teaching strategies and techniques to different student abilities, learning styles, cultures, and groups. Experience teaching in a variety of settings, including online, dual enrollment, and large lectures, is highly desirable.
