HVAC Instructor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HVAC Instructor to join our team at the Alabama Department of Education. As an HVAC Instructor, you will be responsible for implementing an educational program for students in the field of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC).

• Develop and implement curriculum and programming specific to the needs of students in the HVAC field.
• Provide instruction in the use, care, maintenance, and safe operation of HVAC equipment and tools.
• Maintain contact with the business and industry community to stay up-to-date on job entry requirements, current technology, and practices in the HVAC field.
• Develop, implement, and revise instructional plans and lessons according to state standards.
• Establish and maintain a learning environment that promotes student engagement and active learning.
• Provide feedback to students on their performance and progress.
• Administer standardized tests and proctor exams as needed.
• Participate in continuing improvement of professional knowledge and skills through staff development programs and workshops.
• Support school improvement initiatives and participate in school activities and events.

• Ability to meet suitability criteria for employment and certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
• Ability to develop and implement curriculum and programming specific to the needs of students in the HVAC field.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
• Ability to solve problems as a productive team member.
• Ability to use technology to communicate, plan, and provide instruction, facilitate student learning, manage data, and produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.
• Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.
• Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.

This position requires a high level of physical activity, including standing, walking, and lifting. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances is essential.

The salary for this position will be based on the 9-month Bessemer City School System Salary Schedule. The Alabama Department of Education offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
