Position Summary:


Helio Health is dedicated to addressing and fostering recovery from the impacts of substance use, mental health challenges, and various behavioral health issues.

To further our mission, we are in search of a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our team on a Per Diem basis for our Inpatient, Outpatient, or Residential programs.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will deliver comprehensive care to individuals affected by substance use, mental health, and other behavioral health disorders.


At Helio Health, Clinical Nurses have a distinctive opportunity to apply their expertise in a holistic manner, emphasizing patients' mental health and overall wellbeing.

Clinical Nurses in the behavioral healthcare sector may experience the following advantages not typically found in standard healthcare environments:

- Reduced physical demands, allowing for a more comfortable work experience without the need to remain on your feet throughout the shift.

- Less intensive patient care tasks, focusing primarily on vital signs, medication administration, and identifying acute mental health and substance use disorder needs.

Compensation:
$44.43 per hour.

Key Responsibilities:


Operate under the guidance of the Nurse Manager, Service Director, and/or Program Director, adhering to medical directives for patient care.

Engage in communication with supervisors, medical providers, and/or Medical Directors regarding patients' health concerns.

Monitor patients' health status, withdrawal symptoms, and report findings to supervisors and/or medical directors.

Collaborate with other healthcare professionals within the organization and the community to ensure continuity of patient care.

Communicate effectively with clinical staff regarding patients' health issues.


Provide direct patient care, interpret medical information, and offer recommendations or referrals for medical services.

Develop, propose, and review medical policies and procedures applicable to all programs within Syracuse Behavioral Healthcare.

Advise the organization to ensure the delivery of services addressing medical and health-related concerns.


Deliver direct patient care, including medical examinations, implementation of medical orders, treatment of health conditions, and reporting of communicable diseases in compliance with legal requirements.


Execute and assess public health education and screening protocols concerning tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections, hepatitis, and HIV prevention and harm reduction, in accordance with relevant public health laws and in collaboration with the Medical Director/Nurse Manager.

Facilitate and conduct medically oriented group sessions for patients on the aforementioned topics.

Participate in special review and quality assurance committees as assigned.

Provide and document medical consultations, assessments, examinations, and treatment planning in alignment with agency policies and standards.

Undertake other related tasks and responsibilities consistent with professional training and experience.

Qualifications:
Must possess a valid Registered Nurse license issued by the New York State Department.

A minimum of one year of experience or equivalent training in the treatment of substance use disorders and/or dependency.

Basic computer proficiency is required.
