POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is a full-time exempt position focused on supporting the mission training complex. The Senior Systems Administrator plays a crucial role in providing operational and human resource assistance for the simulation support team and associated servers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilize information system analysis techniques to identify hardware, software, or system specifications necessary for mission training exercises.
  • Independently manage systems engineering and on-site integration within a military command environment during training exercises.
  • Responsibilities encompass installing software, conducting end-to-end operational testing, configuring system interfaces, and offering expertise to enhance simulation and command systems.
  • Apply design and analytical skills to support the integration of military command systems.
  • Assist in translating mission requirements into actionable solutions using simulation models and planning tools.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot both Windows and RHEL workstations and server systems within the training complex.
  • Integrate Windows and Linux systems effectively.
  • Contribute to the development of training materials and participate in after-action review activities.
  • Support the setup and recovery operations of equipment and facilities for training events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a US Secret Security Clearance.
  • Required to hold an Information Assurance Technical II (IAT II) certification in accordance with DoD standards.
  • Must achieve a computing environment certification within six months of employment.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in IT or simulation-related fields.
  • Experience with simulation or military command systems is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain close customer relations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or systems engineering is preferred but may be waived with relevant experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong IT background, particularly in Windows and Linux environments.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills are necessary.
  • Knowledge of Information Assurance and Governance Risk and Compliance policies.
  • Ability to document processes and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Experience in Microsoft Server Administration and Linux Operating Systems is advantageous.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This position is primarily office-based with a standard workweek of Monday to Friday, though hours may vary based on mission needs. Overtime and travel may be required as necessary.
