Job Title: Project Archaeologist

Stantec is seeking a highly skilled Project Archaeologist to lead our cultural resource investigations in the Mid-Atlantic region. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising field staff, conducting archaeological assessments, and managing project logistics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and direct field staff in conducting cultural resource investigations, including archaeological assessments and Phase I, II, and III excavations.
  • Manage project logistics, including scheduling, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers and principal investigators to develop and implement project plans.
  • Conduct fieldwork, including surveys, excavations, and data collection.
  • Prepare and submit technical reports, including archaeological assessments and Phase I, II, and III reports.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in anthropology or archaeology or a closely related field.
  • Meets the qualifications as described in the Secretary of Interior's Professional Qualification Standards for Archeology and Historic Preservation.
  • Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) or qualifications that meet requirements to become an RPA.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of field supervisory experience in cultural resource management and archaeological compliance survey primarily in Virginia and surrounding Mid-Atlantic states.
  • Professional writing, problem-solving, and communication skills.
